Dustite

Dustite® is a Loose Wheel Nut Indicator Dust Cap for use by heavy or light commercial vehicle fleets to enhance an existing fleet-wide vehicle safe running regime or as the key element of a new safe running vehicle monitoring procedure.

It uniquely combines the operational benefits of a wheel nut dust cap and  the established Checkpoint® loose wheel nut indicators.

Dustite® are fixed and adjusted using the same system and procedures used on Checkpoint®.

Dustite® uses the same mounting principle and method of adjusting the pointer alignment as the Checkpoint® loose wheel nut indicator. The integrated design of the Dustite® fully encloses wheel nuts manufactured to ISO, DIN, or the BS standards that cover Spigot, Captive Washer, Conical, or Spherical seating wheel nuts. In application, the Dustite® should be mounted on a lightly greased wheel nut. This helps protect and seal the wheel nut and stud from the ingress of water and road debris that can cause corrosion of the wheel nut and stud threads.

In common with most developed economies, the UK licensing authorities and Vehicle Inspectorate (VOSA) require transport and public service vehicle fleet managements to have in place and maintain documented inspection schedules and a safety procedure paper trail that helps to ensure, and record, the safe operation and roadworthiness of the vehicles and trailers of the fleet.

Materials & Design

In the product design, materials used and styling of the product we have had to address the operational environment, accepted design and styling, and the fleet management and driver perception of this class of product.

We have built into the Dustite® styling an 'engineered' quality whilst addressing the need to present a visually acceptable shape and style, ie a capped hexagonal section.

The polymer used is a special grade Polyethylene and is suitable for operational use where the product could be subject to petrochemicals, road salts, detergent cleaners, ultra violet, and running hub and transient braking temperatures of up to 125°C.

Sizes & Colours

We can supply Dustite® suitable for 38mm, 33mm, 32mm, 30mm, 28mm, and 27mm hexagon wheel nuts.

Standard stock colours are Fluoro Yellow, Silver-Grey, Black and Red.
